Yeah it can be done. If your not worried about a lose in your cargo area, why not just move it completely up?

are you refering to a WJ? There is not much room in a ZJ due to the tire being mounted on the drivers side by the window. The WJ has the tire under the floor and the tank lift is a very common mod and you will not have any issues.

on the ZJ if thats what you have unless you have a cage and stiffeners I personally wouldnt do it

I could be wrong on this, but doesn't that make things unsafe?

I didn't think the factory tank was meant to be in-cabin like real fuel cells are.

you bring up a good point but some buggyed out rigs have stock tanks. either way they make some cells out of the same plastic stock tanks are made out of

I spose it could be done safely if done right, but on the other hand it could cause some good problems if not thought out and done incorrectly.

It always gets me concerned when adapting something that could be dangerous when something is actually designed and made for the same purpose.

Mine is strapped down to the floor. No leaks, no gas smell and has been back there for 6-7 years.

Gee is absolutely right,is the tank now shielded& vented/with drain for any spillage. Also how big is your bumper?
