Rear Bumper redo
So a while back I did a custom rear bumper and stupidly used the stock mounts, cut them flat and reinforced them. At the time I thought this would be strong enough to hold, nope. So this past weekend I redid the mounts and receiver hitch. I'm pretty happy with the way it's turned out so far.

After I cut to expose the frame rails I measured and cut two mounts at 21 inches. I used 2x3x3/16 tubing for the new mounts and notched them to clear the gas feed tubes and leaf shackle bolt.

Once I got the mount rails burned in I turned to the receiver hitch. I used a triangle piece of 3/16 steel cut at 12 inches on all sides. Then cut off the point to make it flush with the end of the receiver. Sorry for the multiple posts, won't let me upload more than two photos.

Not bad welds for flux. I put another piece of 1/4 inch between the rail mounts and cut it to fit, then welded it to the mounts and the receiver to give everything a bit more strength.

Couple more pics of the cross brace. This is pretty much where it sits for now. I have to clean it up and paint it and mount it. Should be done tonight. If it's not dark when I finish I'll take more pics, otherwise more tomorrow morning. I used 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts and nuts and welded 4 nuts per rail. I think it should hold but I do have a spot for a 5th if y'all think I'm gonna need it. Let me know what you think.

here is a hint from experience, dont have the "hook" of the jack hang down it will catch and bend the mounts and can cause damage to your jack.
looks good tho

Never thought about that, thanks. I'm not sure if I can change it cause it might stick up too far and hit my gate when opening and closing. Bummer

Nah, Michigan plates so Maryland cops can't say s*** to me, and Michigan doesn't have any inspection so they don't even care. In fact, they've never even seen the vehicle, do it all through the mail. LOL

Possibly, but the receiver hangs down further than the jack so I'm hoping I hit that first before hitting the jack. If I have to I'll relocate to my roof rack
