The thing already weighs 50 lbs and I don't do any mudding so I think I'll pass on that.

Finished up the grinding, smoothing and painting of the bumper this weekend and installed it:

Bondo smoothing out the bottom:

All sanded and ready for paint:

I painted it with some self etching primer and then some aerosol bedliner:

Installed:

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. In fact, I'm thrilled. The bondo was a pain, but it really made it look professional after paint. It's hard to take good pictures of something with multiple facets after it's painted flat black. It either looks like a blob or the shadows or sun hide things.

Now I need to get a new fender and header panel on there so you won't even be able to tell it was wrecked.

Looks good. The angle in front bugs me a little but to each their own. The finish looks really good, the bondo paid off!

Makes me wish I had a CNC cutter. I think the bumper is going to look great. I agree on not going with 1/4"

Thanks, but I don't actually have a CNC plasma. I just sent the cut file out to a few different shops for quotes and picked the lowest price. The guy was really cool about it, he even dropped the parts off at my house on a Saturday.

I think I'm going to go check the JY this weekend. If I strike out there I might do the ebay thing. I have a $100 burning a hole in my paypal pocket anyway.

verrrrry nice alaskan, damn fine job, assuming you got good penetration with your little welder (sounds like you made sure you did i.e. beveled edges, rewelding places that needed it) that bumper should be rock solid.
