I think I'll stick with my current plans lol, I have some time on both Tuesday and Thursday that I can get a good portion of it done. It will probably wind up costing more than I expect, but the "cool" factor will be worth it.
Another thing I don't want to try to do is get it lined up perfectly with the hatch latch. The current plans have me just glueing a bumpstop to the hatch. The tire carrier latch will be on the roof rack, making it self contained.

Here are pics of the mock-up. I could'nt get much done, because it started to drizzle. But I think you can get the gist. It is only going to sit about a half inch off the roof, and I have to make gutter mounts for it, and cut some angles and stuff aswell before I really start welding. After I get the rack done, I will build the actual swing up part. I will also make removable side, front and rear rails for when I want to carry lots of stuff.

I have'nt really done anything to it yet. The metal is still in that back of my jeep. I have had a few projects for school that took priority. I plan on getting a chop saw next weekend cause I cannot make a good cut with my grinder.
