How do you figure dodge funded it? Everyone did that stuff in the 60's.

has the same affect as a CAI... delivers colder air... thats about it... reason being is your engine is sucking in air already right? well how much more air would you have to push in to actually supersede that amount and THEN make a difference... however on a crotch rocket or Vtwin it DOES make a difference... about 8-10hp... there little motors dont pull much air...

Not doing crap on a trail. Only scoops worth a crap let the heat out. Longevity beats out all out hp in my book any day. .02

ok first off i run a true nostalgia a/gas car and have a hilborn style scoop on it...running 10.30s at 125mph...far from 200.... i took my scoop off just to see once i lost 3 tenths and 5 mph.... also a ram air scoop lowers intake temps therefore increasing the density of the air in the intake.. thats a fact. do they work like a blower ? no.. but far from a myth..

that being said i would run a cowl hood...lets heat out doesn't inhale water and crap going forward...at speed pulls cooler air off the high pressure area at the base of the windshield...

from what i read its at 100mph or more that it matters... and its possible that 3 tenths you lost was because of loss of cold air... not RAM air... which is what were talking about... not cowl induction air...

The air will be warm again by the time it reaches your TB.

the air is gonna get warm in the 6 inches it has to travel? no chance...Im doing it off the basis of a true CAI, so as long as I get those effects im good. if I get a bonus when I open her up on the interstate then even better

Yeah, like I said it depends on the size on the scoop. Im talking about scoops similar to what you will see on a typical car. If you put a 2' diameter cone out there its going to compress enough air to lower the speed at which it becomes effective

PS: did I say dodge? I meant pontiac

Myth or not you do see gains when there is less air restriction and colder air and the best way to achieve that is with a "ram air" set up correct?

Ok, well than stick a thermometer in ther stock intake near the TB and than the "aftermarket" intake. Youll be disappointed.

cowl hood, true CAI, etc. will be the same, and not subject your intake to rain and if you get a small wave from a mud puddle or something it wont run straight into your intake. I was just giving some info that doing it for the "ram air" effect is the wrong reason to do it.

Well so everyone to come back to the original conversation my design is reversible. It can be a ram air set up or with taking out a few screws it can be a CAL hood scoop. So the best of both worlds
