Hey why dont we just let him build it? He's already working on it and you're not gonna change his mind. Plus i wanna see it i think its cool and you think it'll work so thats all that matters man keep up the good work

 

I Love hood scoops, I haven't owned a vehicle yet that did get one installed. I will say this before I continue. The following is on my Mudtruck, it gets used and abused and wasn't built to win best in show.

I wanted to accomplish two things, go through deeper water/mud and be friendly to the motor. I couldn't imagine running a marathon while breathing through a garden hose. I couldn't see installing an extra 5-6 feet of tubing and bends and expect my motor to basically do the same thing.

Here is what I did.... 4.0power87, not trying to steal your thunder, just giving you some ideas even if it's what not to do.

I took the original air box and flipped it upside down. Cut out what was the bottom and fabricated my own scoop. I mounted it above the valve cover so it would be centered in the hood. Uses stock clips and air filter element. Jeep has been through major storms with high winds and down the road at 75 mph with no issues (will the clips hold etc.)

lessons learned, don't block oil fill and if your scoop is huge your hole in the hood will be even larger.

If the weather looks bad I just unclip the scoop and reverse it and the same if I fear water splashing over the hood during a crossing. Quick and simple. I have run it in light rain with no issues. If the element gets soaked however, then it acts like a choke.

That's pretty cool I won't lie . It seems I'm building something similar but the big difference is mine is right over the top of the throttle body so you get a more liner flow of air but this makes it offset on the hood. Also I worked on the aerodynamics inside the hood scoop to provide a dense air mass in the box at higher speeds. It will be a little more "cleaner" looking as well but I still like what u have done

 

i have these scoop installed on my jeep , they sell it on ebay for about 18 it works really well cooling my intercooler , i am also going to buy another one so i can have dual scoops, as on the other side is located the turbo and intake so they can reach for cooler air will post pics after mood, this is how it is now,,,

LOL @ this thread title. no hood scoop will yield forced induction. You'll likely gain worse performance from the air resistance than the cold air its bringing in.

 

as i stated, my scoops are just for cooling down the engine components as my intercooler, and with a new scoop on the other side to cool down the turbo and bring cool air to the intake, i dont believe that there would be that much resistance driving at 60 or 65 that is the most i drive my truck , to have a forced induction youll need a turbo or supercharger no matter what you install on your hood, otherwise your vehicle will be a naturally aspirated engine!!

 

Kudos on the build man. Keep going, test it out and see if you like it. Thats all there is to it. Have'n fun while fabricating. This will only get your imagination going to build something else!!! Lookin cool so far

yes , its mine but i dont catch what you ask , my english is limited , there are some stuff you say somtimes that i have to google them , i realize you ask about the tires, if thats the case those are not silverstones , i got those from an spain import , the brand is insa turbo extreme they have tires for all aplications but i choose those...

they even have a homepage...

well , at the rate us dollars are on my country they could be at least 88 us , and 31's where about 95 , i really loved the idea of getting 31's but i had to cut fenders and didn't wanted to get on to that mood , im still having issues with the steering, whenever i turn, the tires rub on the lower control arms so im trying to buy some spacers, i tough if this is with this small tires i wouldn't realize the pita with bigger ones...
