True forced induction hood scoop

I'm sorry that picture with Theban on the hood made me laugh. Good intention bad idea. As far as my hood scoop goes it has taken a back seat to my truck. I am trying a fiberglass design. I'll keep you updated

i think its cool as hell, i told him to cover it up with some type of cowl, but i think hes not around anymore... its not forced induction but good for cooling the engine...

Can't wait to see your new idea...
I'm still rocking my modified airbox set up. During heavy rain and storms no water enters if sitting still. When I drive in rain I still pop the clips and turn the scoop around. I have positive results with throttle response, almost no tubing and high flow filter, and significant drop in engine temp. I don't have any issues with rain water, water from crossings, etc entering onto the motor.

I have been running this for a long time as you can see from the earlier post a few pages back.

I'm loving the ideas everyone has come up with. Unique ideas keep this hobby alive and growing...

but with the xj, you would likely want to make a temporary strip of bristle or something like a shop broom end. more so of a flexible strip placed across the hood to see where the airstream is at the most force. otherwise, you may be adding a hood scoop where there is absolutely no air stream.

if you want the best of forced air intake, i'd have to agree with a snorkel. the air is high above the hood, at roof level, where there is likely the most volume of air being forced over the vehicle.
I wonder how high you would have to get. I know I can drive 35 mph around town and it won't blow the helicopters (maple tree seed things that spin when they fall) off the hood.

i modified mine and add a new scoop on the right side for the engine oil cooler and the turbo thats on that side, myne is a TDI engine...
