Let me know if you want to sell that welder when you upgrade, I'm in san jose and would love 40 more amps of power and the option for shielding gas. And that bumper is inspiring, I think I'm set on tube now.

FWIW, Flux core actually burns hotter and penetrates better than solid wire. Not sure on the specifics, just know that everything I've read, and everyone I've talked to has said so.
If you plan on welding .25 wall tubing or material on a regular basis I'd suggest getting a MillerMatic 180. Its rated to burn 5/16 in a single pass, using solid core wire and gas.
you could use that little welder you've got to do .25 wall tubing if you used gas, beveled your joints and did things oldskool(and better if you ask me) where you lay a root pass, then do two passes over the top of that to fill the joint. <-with that technic, not only will you get better penetration, but you'll also get a stronger joint.
Enough of my threadjacking, Keep up the good work, that bumper looks amazing. I can't wait to see the work you'll do when you get your hands on a plasma cutter and a big welder.

excellent choice. Thats the machine I was going to get before I saw my Powermig 255 on Craigslist for way less than its worth.

Good job; I have a round tube front bumper and really like it more than a box bumper. Have you thought about a tube rear bumper; mine is made of 4" sq tubing and I would like to make it similar to the front.

Long time since Ive updated this.
So I got new tires (33s) and the ends of the tube (and the supports) on each side of the bumper would rub against my tire during articulation. So I ended up cutting about 3" off of each side, and made new side supports that are up and out of the way.
Heres the only pic I have of it... ill have to snap another some time soon.
