I have to agree with the fact ARB bumpers are a little bulky, but it still way better than stock, and they are known for thier durability. I built mine, and can tell you from experience, that it is hard to build a winch bumper with max approach angle on an XJ period!! I have my winch plate so close to the first bulk head in the uni body that it required "minor massaging" with a BFH during installation, to get the mouting holes to line up! I have hit mine in numerous situations, with the approach being in mind during the construction. It is wheeling in an XJ, they will "drag" themselves through anything, the emphasis on drag!! LOL!!

all the more reason to NOT have a boat anchor hanging off the front of your XJ.

Dude, you asked for opinions on the bumper. If you don't like what people have to say about it...you shouldn't have asked in the first place.

Oh, and I highly doubt you're sitting 15 inches above stock, unless you're running a 7.5" lift and 40s.

Whether the people in this thread want to accept it or not, a Warn winch bumper does reduce your approach angle compared to stock or many other bumpers on the market.

FYI, this thread should've been in the cherokee chat section of the forum. it has pretty much nothing to do with Fab

get real.. I asked for peoples thoughts.. To cut the bars off or not to.. I did not ask if I should have bought a different style or brand of bumper or what bumper I should buy to make my approach angle better. and yea 6.5 inch lift and 35s stock tires are
23.86 inches tall do the math every like 6 people in this add have already ignored you so i am doing the same you can rock out with your stock better approach angle front bumper

My opinion on that is, if you paid that much money for a bumper, I'd leave it the way I bought it.

For future reference, I'll tell you the same thing I've said to many other people on here; Use at least middle school level sentence structure and spelling so the rest of us can understand and comprehend what you're trying to say. You'll get quicker answers, and your threads will tend to stay more on topic.

BTW stock tires are NOT 23" tall.

235/75/15s are automatically at least 15" tall from the wheel size. Then you get the height of the sidewall ->235mm(section width) X 0.75 = 176.25mm(section height) Convert to inches(25.4mm in an inch) and you have a 6.94" section height. Add that all together and you have a stock tire that is 28.88 inches in diameter.

For every two inches larger tire size, you only gain one inch in lift. 35s are 6.12" taller than stock tires which = 3.06" in lift from the tires. Add that and your 6.5" lift and you've got 9.56" above stock height. To sit 15" above stock, the best tire/lift combo would be 40s and 7.5" of lift.

As far as my bumper goes, I don't have one. You know why? Because I'm building one that makes the material a warn bumper is built from look puny. 1/4" and 3/16" plate, enough room for a winch, better than stock approach angle, and triangulation out the butt. The best part of it all? Its cost me about $20 in welding wire and $50 in steel.

I kind of agree, you did ask for opinions on your bumper

If you really do like the bumper then what is the big deal?

Just do want U want to your XJ and let's leave it at that
