I have a quick question and it may have been answered already in this thread. If so sorry. When I weld on my jeep, bumper, fenders, sliders, etc do I need to disconnect anything like the battery, ecm, lights, etc?

I would recommend disconnecting the battery just as a precaution. and make sure you are properly grounded.

I've posted in here a little while ago asking for some advice. Basically I have no experience but I'm willing to learn and I'd rather start with something I know will last and is not too cheap so I regret not getting something better.
There's this deal going on right now at my local hardware store, would that be good?

What I've been doing at work the past 2 days...most of these pics were taken yesterday, did all the cutting out of old steel on Monday, yesterday was grinding, grinding, and some grinding, LOL...and starting to repair/replace the bad steel...
This is a grabber arm for one of the trucks. Reinforced it 2 weeks ago due to cracks in the mounting areas. All the reinforcement I put in with gussets held up great, then the arm decided to split where the pin for the hydraulic ram mounts, LMAO...so made the decision to just rebuild the whole damn thing.
Yeah, pic heavy, LOL...today I'm gonna start the rebuild. More to follow....

Moar pics from work today...
Started reassembly of the arm today...got everything squared up on the table, got more prep and cut work done, and started welding it in...all plate is 3/8", used 7018 rod in the 1/8" size. Main plate was single pass, secondary plate was one root, two cover...gussets and arm tomorrow.
Then, at the end of the day, this shows up:
No rest for the weary, LOL

Got the arm installed today, along with some gussets. Everything was done with 3 passes, one root, two cover, in 1/8" 7018. Test fit tomorrow, along with some underside welding, should be good to go, and re-installed on Monday. One less truck out of my hair...now for the next 3 that broke this week...LOL

Man kinda dead in this thread...lol
Some pics of the wrap up of the arm repair...
Check out those multiple passes...freakin' beautiful, LOL
And on to the next...damaged packer I'm working on ATM...
So this is when I hate my job...had to cut out the bad steel. This is what was inside. Yeah, THAT smelled great, LMAO
All pressure washed, and prepped for the new steel, in process...also cutting the hopper floor out of the truck and replacing, but no pics yet...

Take measurements on how big you want it to be when your with your jeep, write it down and start thinking some stuff up man, Possibilities are endless but i have seen futon frame roofrack builds and standard square tubing builds. might be somebobody else on here with better ideas, try a forum search
