This isn't a Jeep specific welding thread. If you want one, you should go start one.
First of all I'm going to state that I don't care, second those are some super sexy garbage truck welds, (will you be my boyfriend and weld me pretty jeep things?? Lol!!) and thirdly this thread is under fabrication in a jeep section. If you want to be completely politically correct welding garbage trucks is not jeep fabrication. These posts would belong in off topic.

You're welcome for my completely unbiased opinion

I believe it falls under the intended purpose of the thread...the OP of this thread started it off with pics of what he did at work as well...so...

My opinion wasn't biased on the op's intentions "shrugs" (I guess that much is obvious!) thank you for a more diplomatic answer this time, everybody, including Mt. deserves a respectful answer.

I'm planning to replace my floor pans this summer. I have zero experience with welding. Will this setup do the job for my project?. http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMMERCIAL-MIG-130-135-AUTOMATIC-FEED-FLUX-CORE-GASLESS-WELDER-MIG-135AW-KIT/151986843933?_trksid=p2045573.c100507.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555014%26algo%3DPL.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150817211758%26meid%3Ddaf4b046417b4375bc52013d669de72c%26pid%3D100507%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26
My father in law is going to teach me some basics in welding. Thanks!

I would avoid. HF knockoff. And fluxcore only.

Get the best welder you can afford. Check out Hobart and Eastwood units. Yes, they're more expensive. However, if something breaks, easier to get parts for.

My father in law is going to teach me some basics in welding. Thanks!

I definitely understand your desire to save money on something because you are just starting out. But I made a similar mistake that you're considering. I bought a Harbor Freight 90 amp FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welder - which is what you're considering)... albeit, the one you're looking at is higher power, the best thing for thin sheet metal is a MIG welder that uses gas.

It's much easier to control the arc, the puddle, and you're less likely to burn through your floors with the MIG.

All that said, there are plenty that have succeeded just fine with an FCAW welding floors... but they have quite a bit more experience.

My recommendation is to save up a little more money and find a good used welder on Craigslist.... like a Miller, Lincoln, or Hobart. These welders have a lot more adjustability to them and the right adjustments combined with the correct gas will allow you to weld the sheet metal without burning through and decrease the likelihood of warping.

Found a local (to me) deal on a lincoln weld pak 100

anyone have any experience with them? I've seen some mixed reviews. I'm sure it will be better than my HF welder, but I don't want to waste 175 bucks if it's a crap model

If it doesn't have gas, convert it. It's worth it.
