Hey question for the masses:
I have a Hobart Handler 140. I'm currently using flux core and I went through the first spool that comes with the welder and then I installed another one I got from like Home Depot or something. So now when I hit the trigger to get more wire out of the gun it works for a short time then it just stopped and the wheel inside the welder that feeds the wire is just siting there spinning and had a bunch of metal shaving around it.
Not sure what's going on. It was working for a few passes then this happens.
Any ideas on what the issue could be? I did try and tighten the tension down, but that didn't seem to help any.

I believe the roller is correct. It is for the .035-.030. I had .030 and then I bought .035. Not sure if I need to do something different like flip it around?

No, I don't lick fish.
Forgot to post this a week ago. But here it is

Note the feathering (that's how you are supposed to finish off the end of the weld.

Enjoy the pictures

Also, if you changed wire size, you have to flip the roller around. It's .030" on one side and .035" on the other.

^I have played with that. Yes the wheel has .030 for one groove and .035 for the other. One groove is smooth while the other has little ridges on it. From the writing on the wheel, I can't tell which groove is for which size of wire.
I even switched it around thinking I had the wrong one.

Thanks for the link!
I guess I should clarify, the wheel still spins like it is trying to push the wire through to the gun, but it just spins like it doesn't have contact with the wire, but I've played with the tensioner.
I'll take it back out and see what it could be.

did you try a new tip? or running a cleaner through it?
are you keeping it as straight as you can so the wire feeds well?
I have had those problems before just a few things to eliminate. it could have gotten jammed up then ruined the wheel. just guessing im not a good welder lol

I have read that because the flux core wire is hollow, it can easily be flattened out too much and become oval. Then it won't push through the gun correctly. I'd check the shape of the wire as it feeds into the gun. Good luck, let us know what you find.
