Haven't tried TIG yet. It's on the list.

Shaft repair at work the other day...
Welding thread!!!!-20150807_133359c-r.jpg

Shaft came loose from the coupler, which in turn toasted the bearing. Replaced the bearing, coupler, and welded the shaft back in, as the threads for the bolt that held it together were gone...

Yeah. If you look to the left and right of the square shaft, you'll see the hammers that are normally where the shaft is, they're like clamshells that attach to the shaft. The round portion is the coupler, and the bearing is on the other side. In order to fix it we had to pull the entire shaft up with come-alongs on both sides (it is heavy, those hammers go all the way down the shaft, and the shaft is about 8 feet long), pull the bearing and the coupler, install new, and lower the shaft back in place, and tighten it back up, weld it, then time the rollers. This particular piece of equipment is a glassbreaker, so material runs over the spinning shafts, and the hammers break the glass, which falls to the bottom, to a conveyor, while the other material gets pushed across the rollers to another conveyor for further processing. Sometimes trash can be interesting, LOL

That corner repair is pure art.

I do a lot of farm repairs. They use stuff till it falls apart, fix it wrong and proceed to use if for several more years destroying everything around the original issue. I am pretty sure I will never go hungry no matter what.

US Forge 400 gloves from amazon haha. They've held up great and I've used them for over a year now for welding and grinding.
The index finger on the right glove is burnt to hell though cause I use it to support the tip of my gun

I'm currently using Hobart #770639 gloves. Picked them up at Rural King. Suit my needs.

This novice uses these long cuff gloves from Miller. Bulky but protects me from the comets and asteroids flying from flux-core.

So u buy your own gloves? My company consider gloves as expendable necessary items, so they buy whatever I want/need. So I get to try out different gloves and see what fits particular job. Ha... Especially for TIG welding. Different gloves does wonders for some specific jobs.

True. I don't do TIG (yet), and yes the company provides gloves, but they NEVER fit me. I have gorilla mitts. So I buy my own. I do mostly arc and MIG, and have learned to live with it.
