Had to build some new fenders for our car hauler. 1/8 for the fender and 1/16 for the inner fender. Used my HH190, .030 hard wire, power at 5 and wfs set to 55. Having tap settings makes it hard to show relatable settings but anyone that has used one knows what I mean.
Ran a bead on a test piece, was actually 3/16 but was all I had for scrap.
A couple shot of the beads. This one was m the inside of the fender and had very little space to keep from hitting my head on the hub, but as dad said, it don't have to be pretty as long as they don't fall off.
Here's the first one on and the second set up and ready to be put on.
Both finally on, the jeep is sneaking a look on the left.

Some how they are out of order. The last picture should be the second picture but it's just one of the outside beads on the fender

Great point!
Here's one that no one would ever think of that happened to me. I started on a project with my wire feed after not doing any welding for several months. For the life of me I could not get it to burn smooth with any settings. It was really bothering the heck out of me.
So after a couple of days thinking I had forgotten how to weld all together my wife asked me about dusk "Hey what's that?". She was looking back at the high tension electric wires that tied into our Transformer drop to the shop. There was blue arcing coming from them! I went and looked and the clamps that tied the wires together were loose and arcing!
So I called the power company and they came and fixed it, Turned out that this inconsistent power source was my whole welding problem! Who would have thought? lol

Yeah some of the welds got a little bit messed up, but this is the first real project I have taken on and the most welding I have done in the few months I've had the welder. I'm not afraid to take criticism because that's how I'll learn

Looking good. DBO makes some good stuff. Had the pleasure of doing Business with Max, just before he moved his operation from California. Great guy, excellent products. Eyeballing a few more things from him...

Thanks man.
I have nothing but good things to say about Max and DBO. I bought my kit just as he started the move so it took a while to get but Max kept in touch and even threw in the hoop kit for free since I had to wait so long. I will definitely be doing more business with him soon. Think a DIY rear bumper and lower quarter armor will be next.

Got a bit more done today...could have been done if I hadn't kept being interrupted, LOL...
All cleaned up, and ready for the new skin
Getting it lined up with the forklift
Some of the bottom welds
Bottom welded, moved it outside...had to bring the excavator over, to use the boom to push the skin into place, and have it conformed to the bottom plate...need to get it as tight as possible, air gaps are bad news
Didn't get pics of the excavator process, had to have a guy in the excavator, pushing on the plate, whilst I welded it in...just some stitch welds up the sides, and a few across the top, to hold it in place. Will finish welding it tomorrow.

Got it wrapped up today...
All welded in, and hardfaced
Ready to go back in the grinder
here
Lifting it in place with the excavator
Lined up, in, with the main pins in place
Got the main pins in, and the guy on the next shift took over, he just had to hook the hydraulic rams back up, and connect the hoses, and it's good to go

Heavy Work!
A serious project! The real test was lining up the pins right? How close to square did you end up man?
I am curious what they had to give for that pre-shaped plate stock? Seems like everything in the Garbeque business costs three times more than it should.

I'll let you know about the cost of the plates, as we need to order more, this has to be done every few months or so, but it was my first time doing it, we had a stack of those plates, and I used the last one. We have a couple of really good steel shops local, and we buy from them, they're actually pretty reasonable...but curved plates and other specialty steel do cost more.
