nice idea, as most have said boxing it in would be really nice, you could add storage spaces, and or speaker mounts to make everything protected/usable and safe all in one, and that hindge out idea on the thing behind the window is great , once i rip my rear carpet up and see how bad the rust is, i might do this, i have to find the time tools and terrain to do this tho, lol

I built a frame from 1x1'' angle then sheeted it with 20 gauge sheet metal. It's been a decent setup, but after this past weekend I decided it's time to build a rear bumper so i can get the spare out of there and have more parts/supplies storage area.

Looks good, not having it boxed in was the only thing I didn't like about it.

Pay attention....it's coming...

Laid down liner today. I was making sure everything was sealed and done before covering it.

you'll hate that the fumes are gonna vent right into the jeep, gas fumes suck. and i'm not talking because the tank is inside, mines been that way for yrs. i'm talking because your filler neck is on the inside. the caps do vent. hell mine is open in the back now and i smell the fumes every now and then

I ran mine that way for over a year and never smelled gas once.
When a spare shaft came unstrapped in the back and ripped the return line I did though.

Commissioned the box out to a local forum guy who is in carpentry. Making out of OSB, but sealing the inside, lining the inside, then carpeting the outside. Should be cool.

Going to relocate the filler behind the faux vents...I will be sure to post that up.

Are you going to make a false floor to cover it up and get some more even cargo room? Looks great by the way, I'm sure your rear end looks a little skinny now haha
