Anyone have first hand experience with RCV "CV" axle shafts? They're at or near the same price as alloy shafts and 300M u-joints.

Just came across this thread. Thought id throw in my input on having a D44! Its a 79 Hp from an f150. I put 4.88 gears and a spool. I'm running 37s. Its been going for about a year. I ran it with stock shafts til I broke them. I also just have standard warn hubs, and haven't broken any. I upgrated to alloy USA joints and shafts, and I haven't broken a shaft yet. But did break one joint. It bent the ears on the shaft but didn't break. I just bent em back and kept using it. I like the 44, I am pretty hard on it too. I think with running 37s you'll be pretty safe with a built setup. Enjoy!!

How come you went with chevy outter and not ford? How was it pressing in those ball joints? I need to do them on my 44 but havent had time yet, not looking forward to it at all!!
Those crane knuckles are sweet. there local here in Denver and I know Josh really well. Hang out in there shop all the time. Great guys there and build top grade parts!

I'd go with RCVs at this point. You're building a bullet proof axle. Might as well buy bullet proof shafts.

Did you use 3/4" heims for the tie-rod ends? What size did you use for your drag-link ends?

Logan's Metal Products is who I bought the bumper from. Here's the link http://www.logansmetals4x4.com/
Their prices beat everyone else who makes XJ bumpers and their stout!

Well if you already have ford stubs can you use them with chevy knuckles? I have a whole ford set up right now, and just picked up chevy knuckles to make high steer. I don't want to buy new stub shafts if I can just use my ford since there Yukon shafts
