if you have a bunch of other things you wanna coat and not just the floor, grab 2 gallons. It dosent really carry over once its mixed, so its best to use it all in one shot. (if you buy 2 gallons and only mix one you can store it for a good amount of time un mixed)
I am however working on an experiment off the record about the durability of older monstaliner mixed with more reducer and applied at too cold a temp (2 different experiments) to offer some more insight to the creator, who happens to be a personal friend of mine.
Awesome tech support, you will not regret monstaliner.

depends what you want to coat, sprayed I used less than a gallon for 3 nice coats. Rolling I hear people use 2 gallons. Ive been told I got really good mileage on it. Also tintable you end up with more than a gallon by the time you mix it, vs the black.

Sheilding gas helps some, but its really just how you are welding it.
You'll have to practice with some really thin metal until you can figure out how to get it not to burn threw.
I know alot of people sit in one spot too long and end up with massive "half moon" pattern welds, dosent really work on the floor because youll burn right thru. With the smaller machine you should be having less issues.
Practice is all I can really offer, I played with alot of heat settings on my millermatic 180, different areas liked different settings.
My machine is also 220.
