I doubt most drings are much stronger than aluminum. And considering it would be solid and really thick i net it woluld be fine....maybe i'll try it

we have a bunch of CNC Mills, Lathes and gear cutters at my place, if you did any sort of measuring to be able to make it, then maybe you could send those numbers my way so that i could make one out of 6061 aluminum and see how well it does

Ps maybe somebody can help me. My uncle made this lid for a beer company, it was a plastic screw on one and had mountains around it. I don't think the plastic bottle idea lasted long but what company was that? I feel like he said it was for coors but I don't remember.

Just need corners rounded and hitch pin holes.

 

I would learn up on the mills a bit.......it would be alot faster to mill out the area you are burning out on the wire................you could do it in like 3 maybe 2 setups as well and get a part off everytime you hit start if you loop the programs.

I have been a machinist for 12 years programming/setting up/running multitask machine, VMC's and turning centers.......seems alot like a waste to burn that out on a wire..........my $.02 Nice looking parts though, and I appreciate your entusiasm in the trade

 

I know. But the thing is i can set it in the wire and just leave it over night. I dont really have time to sit there and run a mill.

 

Downside to milling it is that 17-4 is hard on tooling.
