I chose the Cherokee. Figured I'd share my love story for my XJ with all you good people. Late April, rig wasn't ready for the Blessing of the Jeeps here in Michigan, so I had to choose. Spend the NIGHT BEFORE the blessing either schmoozing my girlfriend around to make her feel important, or weld the things I needed to in order to have my Cherokee ready for the 350 mile trip, and the offroad abuse that would ensue. Cherokee won. I'd make the same choice 1,000 times over. Hahaha.

I think that normally you should spend time with the girl... normally. Fix the jeep... eventually they leave or get accustom to it and just sit in the garage handing you tools... just make sure it's not a really sharp tool.

For a 1 year with a girlfriend, I say you may pay for it, but it's not that big of a deal to not take her out on the town. If it was your 1 year of marriage though, then you'd be wrong to spend it on the XJ. As much as I love my XJ, my wife does come first. That's the way it should be.

Good choice on the Jeep. You're 18, so, as far as I can tell with teenagers these days, she probably spent the evening sexting with a congressman or something....

Hahaha. All funny replies. And you guessed it, I broke up with her like the week after I got home from the blessing. (I had everyone up there like "WHAT??? You'll be single when you get home!") Might be terrible, but I have so much more time and money for the Jeep now, and it's wonderful. Then again, she was kind of terrible too, so it works out.
