^^ this. That goes for new car commercials as well. Saying it goes 500 miles on a tank doesn't mean squat. The tank could hold 40 g's for all they tell you.

when i purchased my jeep i was getting about 200 miles to a tank the first 3 weeks i owned it. Once i did the tuneup changing everything, air filter, oil change, complete new exhaust (walker hi-flow cat, flowmaster50) i have been getting about 330 miles to a tank ever since for about 3 months now. i do a mix of highway and local driving.

my jeep is a 98 and has a 20g tank. what size tank do you have???

He's saying you thing can reread off. Like mine..when I fill up it says I've put in like a gallon to much..lol and when my gas light comes on, I still 5 or so gallons..but I thinks I only have 2/3 left. Idk mines VERY screwy..I normally try and just keep track of the miles I've driven and fill up around 200 (used to be 1/2 tank..10g) but now its acting different and I'm getting worse now...or seem to be. But who knows..

when i fill up when the light comes on i usually have 330 miles on the trip and i usually pump about 18 gallons.

your needle might be floating? when you run yours down to the light coming on, try to pull off immediately and get gas. take note of how many gallons you pump....

Nah this is my 4th airtech fuel pump. And when I did this one (that's in right now) I just said f*k it and threw it in and I think its crooked in the tank and bumpen the side of the tank.... And I think that this ones messed up too. I think my back flow valve is effed up. >

5" lift and 285/75R16 radials I avg 18mpg, with my 33x12.50R15 bias swampers I am lucky to get 14mpg. Driving normal I would say not jumping on it and keeping it under 3k. Still running the stock 3.55s in a 30/35 combo. Hoping to keep similar mpg with 35s and 4.88s. Just fyi my mpgs is corrected vs the speedo being off. That being said uncorrected I still get 250-300 miles before I fill up.

Stock gears? It will read slower if you have bigger tires so you should be getting closer to15-16 in reality

The only way to know is to use GPS and do the math the rest is just a guess.

I'm sorry, but I've gotta say pish posh to that!! One of my favorite things to do in my Cherokee is to be first at that red light, and when it goes green, there's just nothing like putting the pedal to the metal... even if you only do it until you hit the speed limit, hahaha I just love hearing and feeling the power and torque, especially when a little ricer tries to be fast but only gets left in the dust (and mud chunks!!)

But in all seriousness, doing so really destroys your fuel economy. I do it every so often, I'm a bit over-average - lead foot for sure. I get about 230 mi to the tank though - 16 gal a week.
