This doesn't really fit in the Fabrication section yet, so I posted it here. The paint on teh roof was in horrible shape. I have been planning on building a roof basket so this was the first step...
I took the stock roof rack off and used 100 grit sandpaper and a electric sander to snad all the nasty paint off. Then used the air compressor to blow off the dust, wiped roof down with thinner. After that dried I used the Rustoleum roll on bed liner to paint the roof.

I think it looks pretty good when compared to what it used to look like. THe plan is to build a roof basket an dinstall it using the exisiting holes from the roof rack. Not sure how many of the holes I will use, but I'm pretty sure that there will be unused holes on teh roof. Which leads me to a question. Does anyone here have any ideas concerning itmes used to plug the roof rack holes that I do not use?
I was thinking somethign along the lines of a rubber grommet/blanking cap. Smear a bit of silicone on the bottom edge, then put it in the hole.
Anyone have any ideas?
