Most people will say 97-99 are the best years because of the high pinion dana 30 and the 8.25 29 spline. These years also have the better flowing exhaust manifold.

4 door all the way!!!!!

I like them both. But, I prefer the non GM powered models. Just my own opinion, due to bad experiences with the 2.8 V6.

i personally dont like the body on the late models 96-01
but like mentioned above the high pinion 30 and 8.25 is a good combo
but most people swap axles around anyways
also the 4.0 is a great motor and was very well built can last a very long time if taken care of
and you have to decide on your transmision
the ax15 is a great tranny from what iv been dealing with so far no trouble with it at all

either way as long as you get an XJ we will all be happy

While I agree that the two doors look a little sportier then the 4 doors, they all look bad ___ when they are lifted. I went with the 4 door because its a lot easier to put people in the back when they have there own doors. Way more convenient. and also if you need a little extra space in the back you can lay the rear seats down and have easily another foot or so on the two doors.

2 doors are harder to come by, around here at least. If you have people getting in the back of your xj a lot go with a 4 door. My friends always complain about me having a two door because they hate getting in the back. I think of it as excuse to have one of them drive, just means less gas for me. Oh and 2 doors look better lifted despite what all the 4 door guys say. And having owned an 87,95, 97, and 99 I prefer the 99.

Thanks for all the help guys. I kinda like the 2 door better cuz it looks better, and I hardly ever have more than 1 passenger.

97-99 yearwise as the 00-01 have a problems with the head or something like that.

2 door if you're a bigger guy as getting in and out of the vehicle is easier with the bigger doors

If you plan on having passengers alot than the 4 door is nicer, but if not the 2 door is defnitely the way to go

2 door has bigger doors, but only 2 windows. it's kinda nice to be able to put your back windows down in summer.
