So how do you keep your Cherokees running so long? My last car crapped out at 120k. It was a Ford, though.

Well theres your first problem, it was a ford. But honestly the way we keep our XJ's running for so long is by keeping up on routine maintance. Change the oil and coolent and all other fluids at the right intervals and your xj will last for a very very long time. And it dosent hurt that its built pretty well

X2 on the upkeep. The more you keep up with the motor the longer it will keep going strong...Tj

I've got a 1992 F150 4.9l I6 with 220+ on the clock. She's a bullet proof truck, period.

I don't see a problem with Ford. Every MFG has their own "black sheep."

Look at the 2.8l V6 that was in the pre-1987 Jeeps.

No one likes those.

I agree with the upkeep of the vehicle. Very important.

Anyone ever seen an XJ with a mileage badge on the front, or know where to get one. The ones that read 200,000 miles, 300,000 miles, ect ect?

BULLS#!T no one likes the Gud Ol GM2.8V6. One of my favorite Jeeps is my 84 with the GM2.8V6, Chrycrycrysler 904 3 speed, NP228 Dana 30 front Dana 35 rear 3.73 gear ratio Wild Country XRT 31x10.5 tires and Home made 3in lift with Grand V8 coils in front and Junkyard Leaf Mix in back. The future will hopefully hold a Weber Direct 38/38 Syncronized 2 barrel carb(with Weber Fuel Pressure Regulator after mechanical fuel pump) 1.5 in puck atop the Grandz V8 coils in front, and Greaseable Shackles 4 the rear for a total of 4.5 inch liFt and 33x10.5 inchErs on her soon!
