Default 2001 Cherokee manual inner dust boot?

Hi to all. I recently rebuilt my 4.0 and installed a new clutch in my cherokee. When dropping the trans I managed to rip the inner shifter boot and now can't find anything to replace it. Out of production. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or found a suitable replacement / workaround?

I though about just swapping in the tunnel plate from a TJ and using the smaller round inner boot, but not sure if anyone has done this or if it would even work. Looks like the plate is similar in size?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When i bought my 98 and took the center console out to get the carpet out I found my inner boot to be a disaster. searched high and low could not find one to replace it. even ordered one for a TJ and tried to make it fit. wasnt even close.

in the end i used some heavy duty tape and gave it 3 or 4 layers inside and outside. worked like a charm. even if i have to redo it once a year it is still a million times better than having cold air blasting in during the winter and hot air blasting in during the summer
