HIDEOUS was my first word in reaction to the new "Cherokee". I walked through the ordering process on-line just for grins. The price tag went a little over $40K, WTF?

They are not "bringing back" the Cherokee name. It has always been in use for the export liberty. It is meant as a liberty replacement. The last few body codes have been kj, kk and now kl. The Cherokee as you guys know it is gone. And you can ignore it if you want. I can assure you, most of the members of this forum are not the target buyer. It will probably sell well. For some reason people buy tons of the caliber and compass. They will buy the KL.

I'm not surprised, the interior on the summit model looks nice, it seems to be aimed towards people willing to spend a little money.

Your point about the users on the this forum not being the target buyer is absolutely correct. The target audience is people who buy Rav4s, CRVs, Subaru Foresters, Ford Escapes etc. On road refinement with the ability to feel rugged and crazy when they find a gravel road.
Most automotive reviewers have been fairly impressed with the KL. I think the response to the KL will be quite positive once they fine tune the 9 speed transmissions computer.

A) I doubt most new "Cherokee" owners are going to know what a KL is.
B) There's already a subforum for these things, it's called 'Other Vehicles'
C) If the KL newbs want to come here, they can... I doubt they'll enjoy their visit though.
D) I highly doubt IB would approve of you pimping your new forum here.

I just read this: http://www.fourwheeler.com/vehicle-r...hits-the-dirt/
I like these quotes:
"Thanks to its lack of articulation, the Cherokee drives like a piece of plywood through off-camber sections of the trail, so thank goodness for that rear locker."
"Despite being in low range with the rear locker engaged and the traction control off, it kept chopping power as tire speed was being generated. The rock was covered in loose sand and as soon as the rear would start to climb the computer cut throttle and the vehicle would roll back a foot or so to the bottom."
"Even in low range, Rock mode, and with the rear diff locked the Active Drive system only sends power to the rear wheels when it senses tire slippage."
"But as it stands now, it’s in danger of having its picture hung next to Compass and Patriot on the wall of shame."
So awesome...
