2021 starts with a bang!
I'm out of town for a while, on the wrong coast, in fact, but I have three adult sons holding down the homestead. Got a call from the oldest one this morning. Driving my Grand to work in the dark he took off a deer's head with the driver's side headlight. Could have been worse.
Sorry for the poor quality pics - he though it would save bandwidth if he reduced the size first.
I'm taking advantage of the opportunity to upgrade to LED bulbs. New headlights and bulbs on both sides. We'll see how they work out. Can't be much worse than the stock halogen and fogged lenses!
Oh deer!
Headlight vs. deer head. No winners.
I may not replace the grill. TBD.
A bit of a buckle in the fender. It's binding on the door.
I'm really bummed that he didn't grab the deer for the freezer.

XJ or Grand? I have seen a lot of complaints about the ones on Amazon. Not DOT approved, etc. I ordered from an American company which says theirs have all the right certifications/approvals.

Well, that's not fun. I got an email from HeadlightsDepot saying my order had been canceled because their payment processor declined my payment. No problem on my end, so I don't know what their problem is.
But I'm not going to force them to take my money, so now to find another source for the headlight housings.....
Weird. I followed the given link to get a set of Ram2500 headlights for a friend with whom I rode the other day and could hardly resist calling for a cab because his housings are so brown I couldn't see where we were going. At first I literally thought he had only the parking lights on.
Ouch! Luckily parts are cheap for WJ's. The headlights could probably use replacing anyway (especially if they're the original units), since they tend to cloud up over time. My '02 WJ is running a pair of aftermarket halogen units I got off of Amazon for about $75 back in 2014 when I first bought the Jeep (wanted to make sure they were bright and clear enough to pass MD State Inspection).

I've never compared them, but I would guess they do, just because headlights have been getting better over time. Well, except for the adoption of plastic lenses.....

Well, that's a long story....
No, because I'm not there to fix it. My adult sons are all having car problems of their own, so they haven't gotten it done. The parts are all there.....
Dunno what the deal was with HeadlightDepot not processing the payment, but I found them on Amazon and bought that way with no problem.
