I would say, 31's fair better for a DD or highway XJ. Mainly because 33's may be a bit harder on the stock axles with extended on-road use. On the other hand we have 33's which have the cool look and gripping abilities that you may be looking for in a XJ that sees more trails than the road. If you tend to go wheeling every weekend then I would say it's a toss up and it is completely up to you. Just take note and be aware of whats going on under the vehicle and everything will be fine.

I would make sure it is aligned properly if you are gonna be running 33s on a DD. But again that is my opinion, I naturally am concerned with new parts interfering or damaging stock/weaker components because I'm a budgeting college kid. <-- "My $0.02"

i had to roll the rear tab back for the fender flares in the rear (i did this instead of cutting because it doesnt leave a sharp edge to slice into your tire.) and i made grinder cuts in the front and rolled it back. an the rear half of the front, i cut in about 4 inches on an angle from about 5 inches up. (dont forget to cut the inside of the fender. you have to take out the whole inner fender and throw it away when you do it too

no denying your input! its great advice! i align my truck every2 or 3 months (but i have an expendable shop) to make sure that the extra tire weight and what not is not damaging anything. i do routine checks.
