4.10's????
#32
In an earlier post to this thread, it was mentioned that 4.56 would be better for 33's than 4.10. Is that for an automatic trans? Would 4.10 be better for a manual trans / 33s?

Yes, if you find a set of 4.10 axles you can just swap them in, as for adding a body lift, no that is not possible on a Cherokee. They are a unit-body built rig and do not have a body on frame structure, so no body lift is possible.

Ohh I learn more n more, what about like spacers and extended shackles or something? Do you think 33's would fit under a 3 in lift with cut fenders? And for the axles does it matter what year Cherokee they are out of?

Oh jeesh! This just gets better and better. Now I have to change axles and gears... Man does it ever stop?
I am new to modding my xj. I have followed this thread and I have stock everything so far. I am planning on installing a 4.5" lift next month (January) and putting 32x11.50... I read somewhere that I would be ok with 32s but would need to change gears for 33s...
Does that sound correct?

No. I believe what they are saying is you CAN change your gears if you wanna spend some serious cash to have them done or are very experienced and can do it. But as a cheaper alternative, find a 4 cyl Cherokee and take it stock axles because they will have 4.10 gears and just swap the whole two axles with yours. That's what I got out of it.

Speed x gear ratio x 336 / tire diameter x transmissions final gear ratio = rpm
Example: 70mph x 4.10 axle ratio x 336 / 33 inch diameter x .75 OD ratio for AW4 transmission = 2192 RPM
70mph x 4.10 axle ratio x 336 / 33 inch diameter x .79 OD ratio for AX15 = 2309 RPM

Ohhh can I just get spacers and extended shackles on eBay? I think I will just run 32x11.5x15 on rims with 3 3/4 bs. And I have a skyjacker 3 in lift I believe.

You can run 33s on a 3 inch lift with trimming and bump stops. I plan on running 35s on a 3 inch lift with a lot of trimming and spending the time to measure and set up the bump stops correctly.

I trimmed my fenders. Well I guess you call it rolled where you cut the tabs then bend em in. I did this on the front where it leaves the little lip along the fender. I'm gonna do the back ones tomorrow and then rhino line along the creese on the fenders and the rocker panels. I'm pretty new to the forums but I took a lot of pics. Should I post em somewhere on here?
