85mph
Saw a cherokee going 85 today. I tried catching up with my Patriot (cherokee was at home) and got to 80 and he was still pulling away. Lifted and big tires. Wind was 23mph with gusts up to 45. How was this possible? I feel like if I go 70 in my cherokee bolts and screws will start falling off. Also he didn't sway at all with the wind. Seems like mine if the wind blows like it was today then I'll have lots of sway.
Edit: looked like he had stock steering as well. Maybe zj upgrade but not 1-ton. 4-6" lift on 33s-35s. Possible long arm.

All kinds of crashing noises, rattling, steering wheel rolling more than a ship in 20ft swells...
Maybe he just had really big *****. I'm sure I could push the XJ to 100+mph, but at that point certain death is a distinct possibility
Also he was probably geared, because on stock gears + 33's I can't even outrun a UPS truck

The most I've done was 65-68 on 3 inch lift and 31's with all new stock steeing and zj tie rod upgrade. I used to have a death wobble but after fixing my lissette (had a bad tie rod end) it's like I been traumatized. It's scary as hell now. I always stay on the right lane hahaha

Mine feels better at 80-85 than it does at 70. It's in the power band and past the slight tire balance shake zone. It sucks more gas at 85 but I run it there pretty consistently on road trips. I'm only on 3" and 31's though. I've got a roof rack and tire on top too.

I guess I'm just not in that big of a hurry in the XJ when I take it out, I built it to take advantage of the trails and off road use. and 70 is about the most it see's but will go faster I suppose.
Now my WJ is a different story it was built for a little of everything and the 4.7HO will cruse at 85 on the turnpike all day no problems with a lot left over if needed.

Mine does better at 80 than at 65. With 35s and 3.55s 65mph is just too low rpms. Also it tends to drive straighter, probably because it's about to take flight.

Mine likes 70+ over 65 as well. 31 and 3.55s. I've gotten it to about 90 in a specific strip here in the mountains, nice smooth turns and open stretches. 88 and I didn't even time travel!
