We got off on the same off ramp on the freeway, I pulled up next to him and could see what I thought was long arms, then proceeded to get in front of him and through the rear view mirror it looked like a stock setup.
I typically don't go over 65-70 so I don't have a desire for speed it just seemed like he was able to go that fast with such ease lol. 65 and a gust of wind comes and my jeep wants to glide into the next lane. Perhaps I need to replace my steering box.

Different experiences. The XJ I have now is the first Jeep I've owned that was capable of running highway speeds period. Both my CJ's had 35's (and 38's originally on the '73) that were barely able to hit 65. My old XJ could only do about 60 before the wobble (with a lift of barely 3" with spring sag) before it started to feel like the apocalypse was unfolding under my tires.

If mine wasn't sitting on jacks with the front end torn out, I'd think you were talking about mine (until you got to the long arms) 35's on 6.5" of lift at 4.56 with short arms and a drop kit. I do 80 without even thinking about it on the way to the trail. If I'm coming home from a long trip (CO or UT) after running a trail all day, I'll be around 85-90mph.
I also run a stock steering set up with an oversized tie-rod. After a TON of research, I just couldn't justify the swap to OTK or even UTK 1-Ton steering with the KNOWN dead spot when I am going to be driving it on the freeway as much as I do.
Plus I'm still running the stock steering box. I've wheeled it hard and the steering has never been the issue!
Lift it right, align the front end correctly, balance the tires, and align the drag link and track bar correctly, and you should be able to do it all!

Problem I have is alot of highways up here are set at 75MPH, so I need to do 80 to maintain speed with traffic.
OR I have to stick behind the big-rigs doing 35-45mph up and down hill, which gets old after a mile or two...

Yep! When I am doing 80 I am the slowest one on the road, weaving around the semis.
