I wouldent mount them on the cowl. You will get alot of glare off the hood. Look up "project florida crawler". Im in the same boat as you and i talked to him and he says he doesent even use his lights because of the glare off the hood. Im goin with the detours brackets.

 

Flat black hood. Glare isn't a problem. Im going to wait and see what the new detours look like mounted

 

Ah. Then ide say go for the cowl. Do you wants spots or floods?

 

Here's my light bar set-up. Its a KevinsOffroad bar that clamps right onto the roof rails. Its gnarly too, things not going anywhere. And 4 KC Apollo Pro's. Two long range and two driving. Pretty good setup first pic is of headlights only and second is with all lights on, in the same spot. You can really tell the difference
