well I just got off work and tried the dealership but they were closed. missed them by an hour. So know I'm back to searching. I really need one by tomorrow because its my only day I have a chance to mess with it. At this point I really miss having a second car but oh well it is what it is. I may take the pump out tonight to check it out since I'm parking it for the weekend.

Well I got to figure something out today weither it be a crappy airtex pump or even a damn junkyard pump which sounds like would be the same as paying an airtex pump, same crappy quility just a cheaper risk.

Hate to say it but at least you will have the warranty with the airtex. I feel like I've become a pro at installing them. Be careful not to hit the sending unit float arm on the new one.

Well I gave in and got the airtex for now until I can afford and have time for a better pump. Wish me luck. Runs way better now!

Heres some photos of what I found wrong with my pump when I took it out.

The ground had rubbed up againist the body

And the hose that was inside the tank that goes from the pump to outlet was barely on, all i did was touched it and it fell off

True that! And thanks I'm going to need all the luck I can get. I am going to replace it with a better quaility pump, I wish I could have waited and saved up but with the xj being my only vehicle and been sharing it with my mom since her caravan blow up I needed it on the road asap soo I had to take the risk. Haha it is pretty loud like everyone says it is but I don't really mind that as long as its working.

My airtex just failed me. You're next. I bought it May 11th. Installed the next day.

Just bought a bosch for 30 bucks more than an airtex on Amazon.com. Will have it monday and never have to do this crap again. It will fail you just so you know. The question is... when?

If you wheel a lot, that pump isn't going to last. I just started a few days ago and now I'm replacing it.

If you want something done fast, it won't be well.
If you want something done well, it won't be fast.
If you want something done fast and well, it won't be cheap.

You'll come full circle in a few months unfortunately. As long as you don't mind replacing your fuel pump every few months, or at least once a year, then you have nothing to worry about.

I wish I'd have read this forum before I installed one of those giant pile of crap Airtex pumps.

Those of you who are having trouble with the engine control fuse blowing, it's because the positive terminal of the plug is contacting the metal on the mounting bracket. This happens because the worthless rubber adapters they give you to mount the pump, swell and turn to mush shortly after being immersed in gas. Then the pump flops around loose.

I installed one and had to pull it out less than a week later for a blown fuse. The rubber sleeves were swollen to twice their original size and were the consistency of jello.

I made my own adapter from a chunk of PVC and JB Weld putty. I'm hoping it'll last at least a few months until I can afford a Bosch pump.

I can't stress enough... Airtex is crap.
