Default All floor pans and cargo area rust!

I just bought my first Jeep today a 96 XJ with a 121000 miles. Bought it for a daily and a project... Well in short I thought I couldn't lose with the mileage but when I got home I started going through it and all the floors and rockers and cargo floor is pretty much rusted out or starting to do so. How bad did I get burned? And what are the chances that the frame is smoked? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated I need some good news this whole ordeal put me in a pretty low place haha. I know I should have done more research and checked this out but I didn't and now I'm down 2200 bucks and that is alot in my financial situation.

Check the frame rails for rust. If they really are rusted out then new ones need to be welded in. If it's just a lot of surface rust, sand it and bedline the interior.

This is not the right section for this post. The Read before posting thread sticked at the top of the Fab section would have let you know that.

As for your question. I learned how to weld and stuff by fixing mine. It had a lot of rust, and had to be repaired. It is repairable, depending on the damage. I suggest you post pics, as it will help show us the extent of the damage, and we can proceed from there...

Floor pans are not that hard to replace if you know how to weld. I just did mine and they were completely gone but the frame rails were solid. I got my floor pans from c2c fab, they were the cheapest i could find.

Sorry not trying to steal the tread, one day i will get around to starting a build thread on this thing! But Yeah raised the tank up like 5" or so boxed the entire frame in with 3/16" plate and made the back section and tranny tunnel out of 1/8" plate beefed up the front seat mounts with 1/4" plate that runs from rocker to rocker and I cut the original rockers out and put some 2x6x3/16" box beams in there then put 3/16 plate in the bottom of the front fender wells and front portion of the new floor boards as skids not that hard really when your cutting that much out

Still working on the back seat thinking of putting something back there like a seat out of a side by side or something just as a jumper seat the rest of the tranny tunnel will be going as soon as I start on a new motor and tranny but that's not happening until the jk is paid off

Dang, this is lookin' good. This is kind of what I had in mind with mine. I've been thinking to join all the frame rails together and replace the floorplans with 16ga sheet so it's all the same thickness. Then perhaps leave the tops of the framerails open and make some panels that I can take off so I can maintain them from the inside and run wires and such.

I see a lot of newbies not paying attention to the "last post date" when responding to threads.
