I like my Cooper AT3's.. but then again its my dd and I don't want a noisy tire with poor gas mileage.

Default Sipes for daily, chains for exteme

My BFG A/T wore like iron on road, good traction off road dry, very marginal in mud. Marginal snow, maginal ice.
My older BFG Trail were much better in wet and wore long on road, complete catastrophic sidewall failure when they gave up. Good snow, marginal ice.
Uniroyal Laredo holding up great, good wet off road and good snow and ice.
GY Wrangler Territory, long wearing on road, good snow and ice, very good mud.
Wear is not even on the set and broke or shifted internal belts with two before tread wearout.
Buddy XJ getting great tread life and snow ice traction on GY Duratracs.
Buddy XJ getting great road life and great snow/ice on set of Coopers.
For winter tires your gonna need the sipes count to be there, full muds just won't bite.
For our North Pole excursion, we put on the chains.

yea my MT Baja mtz's suck in the snow on road...off road in the snow, perfect. My brother runs a set of the hankook dynapro ats, they are one of the better ats I've seen in the snow, on road. I'm in the market for new ats since we are probably going to have a long winter.

Already a foot of snow here and more in the forecast... The AT3's have done great. I'm glad I didn't go with the Dynapro MT I was considering. I don't think they would have done as well in the snow.

I have had pretty amazing results with my General Grabber AT2s in sticky Florida mud and the recent Northeast blizzard. Very quiet and comfortable on the road. I think they are a great compromise to mud tires. I just finished a 2000+ mile round trip from NY->FL->NY and I don't have any regrets with the Grabbers.

and rocks. the term "mud terrain" is grossly over generalized. where most all terrains are going to perform more uniformly
I definitely agree there is a proper snow when dealing with snow. but most mud terrains will handle it just as well

for anyone looking for more reviews on tires, I always refer to jpmagazine. since they have actually tested most tires and can review them better. ignore the star ratings though.. really should've been on a scale of 1-15 instead of 5.

good read check it out http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/wh...-tires-tested/

Recently moved back to KC from Cotopaxi,CO. We had grabber at/2 on the grand Cherokee, duratracs on the wrangler and swampers on the xj. Highly recommend the Duratracs if your going to wheel it. At/2 are awesome on road in snow not as good off road as the Duratrac, imo. The swampers ruled in fresh snow of 6 plus inches. Once it was plowed they totally sucked. You have to decide what you are really going to use the vehicle for. A/ts are not as cool or sexy as the big M/Ts but way better in snow and ice.

I can't speak for my xj, but my truck has general grabber AT2s and I love them. They are great in the snow and ice. I have never been stuck with them

the way I look at it is why get a jeep if your going to throw some lame all terrains on it. I love having mud terrains and it just makes it feel more like a "jeep" and not an all terrain mall crawling suv. I daily drove my 33 inch km2's for months and they aren't wearing to quickly at all. they last a good long time when you run the right psi and keep up with rotations, sure gas mileage isn't the greatest but its a jeep and your going to get ****ty gas mileage regardless of a/t or m/t. that's just my 2 cents. I will never run a a/t tire

My choice is the duratracs or BFG ATs. Love both of them. I'm running pro comp mudders and they are alright. Too stiff for me though.

Thanks for the reminder.. I need to subscribe to JP magazine.

Hankook calls their MT a "Maximum" traction tire instead of Mud Tire. .. probably for Marketing purposes...but when I save up a little more I do plan on trying out their Dynapro MT's. I've heard great things about them and they would be nice to have as a 2nd set of tires for off road use.

Heard great things about Duratrac too.. probably the best compromise for an all around tire.
