Default Am I priced too high?

Maybe Craigslist isn't the best place to list a highly modified 01 XJ. I've had it listed now for 4-5 days and haven't gotten many responses. Am I priced too high given the mods, condition, and mileage? I spent 18 months building my XJ and I'm ready to move on, but I really don't want to give the thing away. Will the midwest (Michigan) market support $7900ish for an XJ in really nice shape? There are a few for sale near me in the $5k range, but they are in nowhere near as nice shape as mine. Most are rust-buckets

Here is a list of all the work and parts I put in to my XJ:

-Dana30 tube seals
-New ball joints
-All new steering joints
-New front and rear wheel bearings
-New Dana30 control arm bushings
-Rusty's Dana30 and Chrysler 8.25 diff protectors

Brakes:
-New front calipers, rotors, pads, stainless brake lines
-Rear disc conversion with new calipers, pads, stainless brake lines
-New emergency brake cables
-New steel hard lines for rear brakes

-Dual Optima "Blue Top" battery setup with battery isolator switch

-Triple electric cooling fans with thermostat (no more overheating during slow trail driving)
-12000lb winch with neoprene cover

-Rugged Ridge sport seats with lumbar
-Cage mount fire extinguisher
-Cage mount flashlight

Body:
-Warn bumpers (front + rear, expensive!)
-Warn rock sliders
-Warn tire carrier
-Jerrycan carrier
-Lower door body armor (thick!)
-Rusty's skid plate (front)
-Rusty's gas tank skid plate (rear)

-15" LCD drop-down monitor
-Precision Power (old-school) Amps
-Rough Country mud mats
-Rough Country cargo bay mat
-Floor and doors sound deadened

Wheels/Tires:
-Micky Thompson black powder coated wheels
-Micky Thompson 33" MTZz (tons of tread left)
-Brand new MT spare wheel/tire on rear bumper carrier

Paint:
-Good shape for age. A couple spots have been touched up to prevent rust. Paint was multi-stage
polished recently and shines very well. No door dings whatsoever. Overall body is in excellent shape for the age/mileage. I would say 7.5-8/10.

A couple of things that need work as I am very picky:
-Cruise control seems to be intermittent. I don't use it often so it hasn't been high on my list of things to fix.
-Right front channel of audio amplifier sometimes makes a crackling noise. Might be a loose connection or could need amp swap. Happens infrequently.
-Front brake pads could stand to have a more aggressive compound to improve braking performance with the larger wheels/tires.
-Check engine light ON for "small" evaporative emissions leak (have OBD tool to verify). This fault comes and goes. I've been meaning to have this looked at but haven't had the time. It is related to the vapor lines on the fuel system for emissions. It does not impact engine performance or idle. Engine runs amazingly. I may be able to have it fixed for the sale depending on the price.
-On extremely hot days, this XJ experiences the "rough idle" issue if the engine is turned off and immediately restarted again. This is a common issue with XJs with the California emissions catalysts due to fuel injector "vapor lock". I have added the fuel injector insulators and the manifold insulator, but the problem can still happen from time to time. The rough idle settles out after about 30 seconds and then everything is normal. There are only a few days a year in Michigan where it is hot enough to cause the vapor lock.

Aside from the few small issues, everything is in perfect working order. No oil leaks whatsoever. No electrical issues. No dents/dings. No accidents. Very smooth even at 70mph. No issues with vibration in the steering wheel, tracks straight and true. This XJ has basically been babied since I have owned it.

Should I go to eBay with this thing or just keep advertising it locally on Craigslist?

That thing is gorgeous!! I'd be tempted to offer a trade of my 300HP motorcycle for that thing!

I've got two hernia scars from that thing (lifting axles by myself, long story...). I'm definitely having mixed feelings about moving on.

That's not a bad price. I paid $5k for my 100% stock 01. That thing looks & sounds sweet.

Stick to your price. GLWS

I don't drive the XJ much any more. It goes between Birmingham (home) and Farmington Hills (work).

Curious as the where you got Dana 40 axles since Dana never made a 40.
And that jeep down here would be lucky to get 4k. You spent a lot on bolt on parts but in the end that's all it is. Custom work tends to bring a little more but usually a moderately modded vehicle won't bring anywhere near what you have in it. Good luck.

Typo, my bad. Dana 30. Been awhile since I broke out Jeep speak. Axles are both OEM aside from the 410 gears (front/rear) and the Detroit TrueTrac, tube seals, new joints, etc... Axle work was done by DriveTrain specialists in Warren, MI (have receipt). Let's hope it's worth a bit more than $4k or I will have it converted into a coffin and bury myself in it...

I'd also say stick with your price. Everything looks very well done and very clean. Just have to find the right buyer that appreciates the mods.

You've got a "niche" vehicle and what seems to be a nice one. The good news is you can get a good price for it, the bad news is your market is limited.

If it isn't costing you anything to sit on it a bit and you don't need the cash immediately you should take your time. If you ran a dealership (and had to turn inventory) you wouldn't worry about price adjusting for 2 weeks on a used car.

Thanks for all the kind words. Alot of blood (literally), sweat and tears went into this thing. I can't bring myself to abuse her. Hopefully someone else will drive it like it is meant to be if I eventually find a buyer. It is definitely a sinister XJ.

The price isn't that high to me but i don't have that kinda cash to buy it.Only bad thing i say its the wrong time to sell a 4x4 its summer and gas prices are high. When gas prices go way up anything hard on gas won't sell unless its cheap.

I'd have to say the price is too high, but location plays a big roll in what you can get.
The lift is el cheapo (the major turn off for me), and then the lack of lockers, or axle upgrades (aside from the 4.10s).

Don't get me wrong...it's stupid clean.
I would say 5k is spot on. You never get what you have in them.

Out of the 4 xjs I've had the best I've ever gotten was trading for a tj then selling it for 6k.

Good luck either way though.
