Did you have any expenses because of this? Did the shop charge you to check out the Jeep? Did they do any damage when they broke in? Don't discount anything, no matter how minor.

The company should have liability insurance. Even if it's just a small amount you're out of pocket, I would think about submitting a claim. You don't need a lawyer for that. If they won't provide their insurance information, or the insurance company ignores you, file a suit in small claims. You don't need a lawyer for that either.

Also, I used to work in television news. We loved this kind of thing, especially when there's video of the incident and a "bad guy" to go after with the camera. If there's an "On Your Side"-type consumer reporter at one of your local stations, call them up and see if they're interested in a story. "Next on News at 6... Caught on video! They broke into his truck, ransacked his belongings and then dragged it out of his own parking space while he wasn't home... And police say it was all legal! Find out if this could happen to you on 5 On Your Side!"

I'm not saying that you should make up damage that isn't there, but something obviously needs to be broken for the company to fix it and to pursue any remediation. You looked "extra hard" for any damage?

At least the mobile home park is with you in regards to the towing - it was another company that was moving the mobile home, correct?

If nothing is broken there is nothing to remediate, in other words.

No charge on the inspection. I inventoried everything and nothing seems to be missing. It runs and drives amazing. It was not the park but a private company. Not just was it a private company, but a private tow. The homeowner hired and paid for the tow onto a piece of property he just purchased. It wasn't park sponsored or supervised.

The news is loving it because it is ratings and they are wanting to talk to everyone involved (Riedel, Sheriff's Office, Legal expert, park, etc.)

No one wanted to take the case or even deal with it. Harder when the Jeep somehow runs better after being dragged around

They are Riedel Mobile Home Services and it seems like the address they show might not be their address currently......

The fiancee is just happy her Jeep is fine. Meanwhile, I'm selling my F-150 and getting me a 4x4 XJ.

I meant with the news story was there a link to any local news who published it?

man, so I can't even send them some hate mail??? That's messed up. I hate when people violate your property and there is no repercussion for their action. Even if nothing is broken or visibly damaged, they still disrupted your day/week/month. You're taking it like a champ though! good luck with that sale

The news didn't want to do anything with it either. I am surprised with as greedy and vile society can be, that there are topics where they will be lazy and won't touch.

What pisses me off more is all of these people selling Cherokees who think their rusted out 20 year old vehicle is worth more than gold

But they are worth more than gold. It's an XJ! Come on.

Sorry to hear about your headache. Glad it didn't impact you too much. It is disgusting to wake up one day and realize the world doesn't give two ****s about you. About me. I've had my car broken into a couple times now (work in shipyard, they are all in bad parts of town). The cops don't care, they don't come out. They take the report over the phone, no follow up.

So the steering is starting to act up and low and behold it looks like there might be some damage. I called Riedel and of course he ain't answering, his dumbass was the one who dragged the Jeep.

Wow man.... this totally sucks.

As far as it being "legal" I think the more correct term is that there aren't any laws that can be enforced by the police. Everything occurred on private property - with the exception of B&E into your Jeep. I'm surprised there isn't at least a police report citing that. However, this is a civil issue plain and simple unfortunately. I saw the comments on the facebook video, looks like the news is going to get involved. So maybe you can at least get the parts to fix your tie rod out of it.

That's just unbelievable though... can't believe someone would have the ***** to just drag someone's **** around like it's not big deal. I'll bet if that was a 2015 Mercedes G Wagen, they wouldn't have just hooked it up and dragged it around like it was a little tykes wagon.

Civil suit. You can sue somebody even though no laws were broken. You represent yourself, likely in small claims court.
