Removing the starter relay on my 90 requires tools. Maybe on later ones its as easy as unplugging something, but on the earlier XJ's it seems a little more involved.

I took my stock shifter off and took the plastic peice out of the inside of the shifter and replaced it with metal, and replaced the stock shifter with a grenade so now i can push down to shift, and all i have to do is pull the grenade and metal out, throw it in my glove box and lock it! (of couse this is on an automatic)

Bottom line is that if someone wants a vehicle badly enough, they are going to get it. Alarms work well, but can be defeated. Kill switches do work and can be done easily and cheaply. This won't stop anyone breaking in to your vehicle and/or stealing from it, but will keep it in your posession.
If you take one of the smaller wires going to either your ignition solenoid or starter and splice extra wire to it (make sure to use at least the same gauge primary wire. Important) and route the wire to where you wish to hide the switch, that will work. Protect the splice from corrosion. I'd solder it and use liquid electrical tape. This stuff is great. Make sure to use a good quality toggle switch of higher amperage to insure that you don't create an electrical issue by using a junk switch. They make key switches that require a small key to insert in the switch to turn it on and off so this is another extra insurance that you can do.
You also can get master ignition switches that you can place inline to the positive battery cable under the hood. These have a removable plastic key. You can get these at many automotive suppliers and Harbor Freight. I've used the Harbor Freight model on my truck and the quality is sufficient along with a good price. They even give you a spare key.
If you don't have an electrical or electronic supply in your town, look online for these. I'd not do Radio Shack as they tend to stock lighter duty switches, if your local Shack even stocks parts. Not all locations stock pieces and parts anymore.
