Anyone ever..
..carry a Queen sized box spring and mattress on their XJ's?
I saw a thread with one on a roof, it looked a little off balanced and I don't think the trip was as long as mine.
I have a 92 4door Limited, and I'll be driving 1800km's, or 1120miles I think, through the snow infested mountains next week. Just wondering what your thoughts are, or recommendations for tying it down?
I figure if I strap it down on all 4 sides.. give up part of my view to make way for a strap going down the front and under, and then maybe through the doors, I might be alright?

Dude, thats hilarious...I just moved a queen and boxspring on mine....but my trip was maybe 10 miles!! LOL In my short trip I still learned a few things. First off, yes very awkward with the length vs your xj. Second, traveling at any good speed wind will get under the bed and want to pull it up. Third, make sure you secure the mattress and box spring together FIRST, then secure it to the roof.....the two seem to want to go their seperate ways while up there and it can really throw things off.....hope this helped!

I'm pretty nervous to do this, to be honest... icy roads, possible white outs or blizzards.. I don't want to cause any accidents, nor do I want to be in one. But it's a 7 month old bed, and I haven't found one that's given me half as good a sleep.

I ratchet strapped the hell out of mine and it didn't budge one bit after an hour drive. I'm sure my lightbar played a part in that though.

P.S. Stinger bars are GREAT for ratcheting stuff to your roof.

Is that what I've got? Stinger bars? haha.
I'm not sure how reliable they are though. If they're anything like the rest of my Jeep, they might pull off with a little elbow grease.

LOL smartass!
My mom popped by to pick up her dog, and I showed her that first photo. She's the one that wanted to see a different angle/photo if you had one, but she's gone now lol.

Please tell me your hatch wasn't open for added support?? I can't have my hatch open, I'll freeze to death! And my dog will jump out, lol.
