Whats wrong with overkill? My buddy has 2 12s in an extended cab pickup, soon to be upgraded to 2 15s. If the rest of the system is loud enough to compensate and still be clear (his is), there is no such thing as too much bass.

If the rest of his system compensates for the 2 15's then it isnt overkill... lol Overkill is defined as: an excess of what is required or suitable. So there is such a thing as too much bass for certain setups.

Loudness comes from power, not how big the subs are.

Ive seen 2 10" woofers play louder than 2 18's. Dude was putting thousands of watts (like close to 8-9k through his 10's, dude with the 18's was only pushing 6k.

One quality 10, with good(clean) power is more than enough for most anybody that daily drives their car and doesnt want to damage their hearing.

Everybody is different, figure out your budget, then figure out if you want SQ or SPL. Then make some choices. A mediocre woofer can sound great of you put it in a well thought out box with the best amp/wires you can afford.

I just got my WJ about a week ago and it's got a JL audio of some sort, looks to be 12 inch. It's my first experience with a sub and I'm pretty blown away. I was seriously considering taking it out originally to gain cargo space but now I don't think I could since it's relatively small and boxed nice into the wheel well area. I figure I can add a roof rack for more space

I have a Rockford fosgate 12 inch sub with a 150 watt fosgate amp. Laugh if ya want, but I have had my friends listen to music in my jeep and look at me and say, "That's only 150 watts!?!?"

I've had numerous systems ranging from 4 1600 watt amps and 4 12s to one ten and and air space has alot to do with it that's why system sound so good in an XJ there's plenty of air and the sounds reflecting on the hatch...

To each his own I suppose. I was a kid at one time and everything had to be loud but everyone grows up. Haha
