Whoops I didn't even see that post...
Yes take cruiser's advice and change out that part. All of the good filters in North America are threaded 3/4-16

I personally use Amsoil and will use the Amsoil "Z-rod" high zinc oil in my stroker. Nothing against Rotella, I have just always used Amsoil in everything with great results.
Heres a great high zinc oil list if anyone cares including ppm.

Just to further expand on this- (Which I discovered from the stroker forum as all manufactures of strokers demand that you use a zinc based oil or a zinc additive to maintain your warranty) Our Jeeps (and plenty of other cars) have what is called a flat tappet camshaft. All engines with such a camshaft should have adequate zinc in their oil as the zinc adds another layer of protection for the high pressures and tight tolerances that come with a flat tappet. In 2007 with new emission laws the amount of zinc in standard oil was cut drastically. It should not matter much to those of us with a well used engine as it has already been coated in zinc for quite awhile. On a rebuild/stroker etc. it is highly recommended to get a zinc additive or a oil that has adequate amounts of zinc in it.

according to the corvette forum link I posted, the VR is rated at 1300-1400 ppm BUT it also says this "NOTE that there are some concerns with VR1 due to inconsistenttest results. Additionally, racing oils are not intended for extended (3,000+mile) change intervals nor start-and-stop cycles."

Some data in the first post of this thread: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...acing-oil.html Comes in 10w30 and 20w50 only? lol
TBN of 8, for reference Rotella T6 is 10.6
"Racing" filters are high-flow and not actually designed to filter, so it's not surprising that a "racing" oil isn't supposed to last long.

For those Renix owners wanting the later model SAE oil filter nipple, you can grab them at the junkyard. You need a 15/16 to get it off the oil filter adapter.
Actually, the part is about $5 at the dealer.......

Hmmm... I'm guessing that means the junkyard price is probably anywhere from $3 to $10, and of course, it's always more convenient to go the junkyard than the dealer....
I think I know where I'd go if I needed one!
