Default Bedlining body question

i have searched and have found alot of people bedlining the exterior of their jeeps but nobody says how they preped it. The roof of my cherokee is starting to peel and i want to spray on some bedliner before it rusts but not sure how to prep it. How far do you sand the paint down and what kinda of primer do you use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to join the bedlined cherokee club lol

I raptor lined my rockers, flares, and bumpers by spraying it on. First off id say deffinitley go with the roll on route itll stick much better. Anyways back on topic I just hit mine with 200 grit on a palm sander and used dupli-color primer. My bed liner is peeling off from where a guy ran down the side of my jeep but other than that everything else sticks fine. Really all you have to do is just rough up the paint enough to where the primer or bedliner has something to adhere to. I plan on switching to monstaliner ive heard awsome reviews and they really stand behind their product, its a bit pricey but from what ive heard deffinitley worth it. Hope this helps ya bud

Not hijacking, I want to clean up my old metal and do my body as well, can I rough it up, use rust converting primer, then rough that up, then apply bedliner and have it stick decently???

I had mine done in 2006. I sanded it down with an airsander. I don't remember what grit but I took all the paint off. My XJ looked like I had warped it in tinfoil . You want to create as much surface area as you can. I did not use a roll on. I had it professionally sprayed.
