Rusty's Offroad all day best bang for your buck and will warranty all parts of their lifts just like Rough Country and their in house shocks are good...i would do their 4.5" lift and buy long arm upgrade...or just do the 6.5" long arm from them

I just got done putting a 3" Rusty's Full-Leaf pack lift on my 2000 XJ (with an insurance check oddly). I'm in your boat as far as not really hardcore offroading just some trail riding and ocassional mud. Here are the pictures, ignore the lack of a bumper still waiting on it from Logan's.
Probably going to pick up some new wheels and tires soon but it rides pretty good. Just make sure you get a TC drop, mine had some pretty good vibrations from 25-40 mph.

I would avoid skyjacker based on the jeeps around my area with skyjacker lifts... along with rustys and rubicon express, again, based only on what I see all the time. I'd go with OME, Iron Rock Offroad, or Rough Country. Get a long arm kit like someone said, and 4.5" is high enough to run 35's with proper trimming and bumpstopping, And has a pretty good center of gravity. You'll want to look into an SYE, and over the knuckle steering conversion as well. As someone else mentioned, the bilstien shocks are the way to go.

In response to Tally Patriot:
Nice Lifted Jeep BTW !
Did you include any options with that Rusty's Lift of yours or is it pretty much the standard "XJ Cherokee 3" Spring Pack Kit" for $438. installed on a bone stock Cherokee ?
Reason why I am asking is, Looking at my requirements, My 98 is bone stock outside of some Bilstein replacement shocks.
My Jeep is mainly used to get me to the mountain biking trails and back which are primarily Jeep roads.
I don't really need much as far as articulation is concerned. I am seriously considering going with this Lift.
Options:
Standard or Heavy Duty Springs ?
Standard Shocks ? Or aftermarket ?
What Axle ? Chrysler 8.25 ??
Did you have to replace your trackbar with an adjustable one ?
Did you use bar pin eliminators ?
Could you get your old shocks out OK ?
Any hiccups during installation to be wary of ?
Thanks for submitting those pictures.
I wish they had had that color back in 98 in I bought mine !!

Do what im doin, get a 3 inch rusty's then get commanchee shackes for an exta .5 inch in the rear, their leafs are 3.5 so thats 4 inches. For the front get comaro spring isolators and they giv 1.5 inches which is 4.5 in the front. This will give you some drop for your winch bumper if you get it.

Standard Shocks
D35
No bar pin eliminators
A shop snapped the bolt on my rear shocks a few months ago and rewelded the nuts. I highly recommend having someone else break the bolts and let them fix it!
Not really, just rusty bolts like all Jeeps.
