Default Best Lift for DD

I've had my 95 2 door for 18 months and ready to add some height. I was originally thinking about 2" but after looking at pics I'm seeing the most common height is 3".

I'm running 235/75/15's now and might go up to 30-31" eventually but not concerned with big wheels at this point.

My problem is I want a quality lift, which got me looking at OME sets, but I'm not seeing a lot of 2" lift kits.

DPG has what they call a 2" budget lift with OME components which includes shocks, spacers, and rear leaft springs. Are these all the pieces I need?

If I up to a 3" kit would that degrade highway driving or require any additional modifications like dropping transfer case, or installing other components?

I have OME front coils that provide a 1 3/4 lift, which is what most "2 inch" lifts are, they ride good, better than the stock springs.

OME springs are formed on precision mandrels, fully scragged and shot peened, I don't know what any of that means but it sounds like really high quality stuff.

Get greasable shackles for the rear.

So the Rocky Road site doesn't provide a clear 2" package, it says 2-3" kits - what does that mean? I might be getting wrapped up in the details too much, but it seems to me that when you're talking about a few inches of lift, 1" is a significant difference.

Seems to me you could get ome front 2" springs and 3" rear leafs right around 500. You can get some cheaper but still nice shocks and some cheap coil spaces and have the whole ome lift for less than that original link you posted.

For a DD, is that a good set up? Sadly I'm 90% highway and 10% trail riding, I don't want something that's going to adversely affect everyday ride.

Its 2 to 3 depending on what you add like a heavy bumper that will lower it a lil. Its not such a big deal being between 2 and 3. after 3 is when you HAVE to replace other components like, trackbar, control arms, brake lines.

http://www.cartserver.com/sc/cart.cgi

can you see my cart? that setup(+brakelines) will allow you to run 33s or 35s if you trim and bumpstop right

I hear that. I'm in the same boat man! I'm contemplating the exact same thing you are. My research has led me to plan on shackles, spacers, and shocks and see where that leaves me. That's the very budget minded side of things. My step up from that was zj springs in front, new OEM springs in rear, and shocks all around.

I can easily progress from the first option to the second and not have really wasted any money.

If youre going all out from the get go...... I have heard nothing but awesome about OME quality and ride. I think you'd probably be pretty happy! I would do it if i had the cash.

Wait for some more experienced lift guys to chime in though.......I'm just guessing.

If you dont go over 3.5, a budget friendly shock for you could be some stock JK shocks

I'd say stick with 2" or so to maintain a good everyday ride. I've heard OME makes the best riding stuff out there, but I've never had experience with them. Quality shocks and proper bumpstops are a must IMO. An adjustable trackbar (or redrilling them oem hole) will be a must Also, depending on your budget, some adjustable lower control arms, shackle relocation brackets, and greaseable shackles could be some things to invest in.

With 2" of lift you could easily fit 30x9.5s and 31x10.5's with possible trimming.

Im at 3" and have stock, control arms, trac bar, shackles, and stock TC height. I have no issue with wobbles or alignment. Staying at short arms OME will be the smoothest, but if you go lock arms it will ride like a dream and be super capable. the ride quality is going to be all in the spring rate, shock valving and shackle angles

Found a 2.5" OME kit that says it's everything needed for a complete lift. It's pricey though ($1300+) and I'm not sure I need all these parts. Looks like some people only go with springs, coils, and spacers...thoughts?

OME Shocks & Coil Springs
OME Dual Rate Leaf Springs
JKS Quicker Swaybar Disconnects
DPG Swaybar Disco Cables
JKS Adj. Trackbar
DPG Front Extended Bumpstops
DPG HD Rear Bumpstop Plates (DPGBP-0)
Leaf Spring Bushings
DPG HD U-Bolt Kit

Well you dont need discos if you remove your sway bar(i dont have either of mine)
This is what you NEED to get lifted, at only 2.5 most stock components will be fine
OME Shocks & Coil Springs
OME Dual Rate Leaf Springs
Leaf Spring Bushings
DPG HD U-Bolt Kit

These(for me) would be if I had extra cash and would buy in decending order
JKS Adj. Trackbar
JKS Quicker Swaybar Disconnects
DPG Front Extended Bumpstops
DPG HD Rear Bumpstop Plates (DPGBP-0)(On stock tires you wont need these, I almost hit my stock bumpstops on my 31s)

These are glorified zip ties
DPG Swaybar Disco Cables

Thanks! That's extremely helpful. When we're talking about NEED vs Add-Ons, are the Add-Ons just offering better off-road capability? What would I be missing out on by not having a swaybar disconnects, adj trackbar, bumpstops etc...?
