How about making it a suggestion for conversation. Everyone has their own circumstances.
EVERYONE CAN MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS.
I have a two mile commute, but also use my Jeep mostly for business and chasing (where 10,000 miles in one month is common). When I'm making good money, the gas part is irrelevant. If it gets me to places to make more money, then $5 and $6 per gallon of gas is fine). Now do I must **** off miles? NO! Do I find ways to make good sound business and financial decisions...yes. I think many can.
Of course some are just passionate and shouldn't ever apologize for driving their Jeeps daily on long commutes. The minute someone else tries to dictate what I can and can't drive is the day you see me pick up arms and fight against those suppressing freedoms (and I'm one who generally thinks guns are silly!).
As far as discussion goes, I thought, 20-25mpg hwy was possible without much modification effort, for an XJ.

lol WHOA there.
I was just pointing out the savings that can be had by DDing another car. 2k -4k in your pocket is a big deal.
I'm not saying im going to go to peoples houses are take away their ability to drive because of it. I'm just saying it doesnt make sense.
Clearly some people are uhh... overly excited.
Admins go ahead and delete the whole thread before someone freaks out and starts a Kony 2012 youtube campaign stopping me from trying to help people who didnt notice the actual DOLLAR difference between 32mpg and 16mpg vehicles.
My bad guys. I'm done i guess.

Id say its common knowledge that driving a car that gets 32mpg will save you a whole ton over a lifted jeep that gets 16mpg in regards to a long distance commute. That's why I felt the need to call you out, because now it seems like your either A. Insulting others and B. Trying to tell others that they need to run out and buy themselves a toyota or other weenie car.

For me driving a Jeep would cost me $4000 more a year just in gas, not even including replacing the expensive tires on the jeep.
Want to spend that 4000 to drive your jeep? go for it. I dont really care either way, I just think people who do that are ignorant to the actual cost of it.

If you get a different dd and still keep the jeep you will spend the money that you save on gas, for keeping the jeep, and never drive it....so your not saving money your redistributing it.....

What hes saying is that if you take the money you are "saving" on gas and spend it on something.... anything really... else, you aren't saving it. You're spending it elsewhere. So its not saving but redistributing the spending. Unless you're actually keeping your cash saved in the bank.

It doesn't happen.....it goes to other stuf like getting that car on the road and keeping it there....I used to have a civic crx just for this but to keep that car on the road and the jeep it takes more $ and time of yours......But just to clarify I would rather not have my XJ as my DD........I do love it but don't want to kill it, I'd rather have my XJ as my toy and then a different DD.......if you can understand that.......but I'm not looking to save money.......my jeep is usually my "toy".
