Best year overall for Cherokee?
#31
I would absolutly get a 00-01 cherokee.. the trim models, limited, country, classic and sport really dont matter unless you want painted bumper ends and leather seats, only offered in the limited... I have MANY freinds that have 00-01 cherokees and my sister also bought her 00 cherokee sport NEW in 2000... As people say the 00-01 cherokees do have a problem with the heads cracking... dont be worried MOSt of the time this happens under 100k..I have never heard of a 00-01 head cracking were i live... so it has to be a maintenece problem.. If you want to go with anything under 2001 then your EXHAUST MANIFOLD WILL CRACK, I promise you... the 00-01 xjs have two peice manifold made out of cast iron and will NEVER crack...The 00-01 cherokees also have a high flow water pump.. my sisters jeep has 170k on it.. no knocking or lifter noise no head crack no electrical problems the jeep runs just as good as my 00 cherokee with 80k.. there is no problem with the 00-01 cherokees.. really i think this year is your best bet for reliability and comfort..the 00-01 xjs also have more power than the older ones due to crysler trying to make the jeeps pass smog in california.. The manifold cracking on the older ones is really annoying and makes for MAJOR POWER LOSS.. my 99 had a bad crack and was loud as hell, sounded straight piped... but any way i am just trying to point out the positive things about the 00-01 cherokee due to everyone talking trash about them and the head cracking issues.. MAybe if the people didnt run there jeep with it overheating it wouldnt crack,haha.. really there is nothing wrong with the newest and last years the cherokee was offered.. I wouldnt think twice when purchasing a jeep to shoot for the newest one around.... good luck, fill us all in on your new purchase.... glen

I happen to own a renix.. Alot of people talk smack about the renix. but it all comes with a reason. Nothing that has been said for either (renix or 00-01) is "made up" they have they're faults.. you know what you have. and respect what issue's other people have had. the same way i am with my renix.
Gotta learn to let it go in one ear, and out the other. Personally i cannot stand chrysler products anymore, so i advise everyone to stay away from a 91+ jeep anyway
