Default Better Rotors & Pads

I'm gonna be needing to do my brakes soon, and going by the jeepers code i want to upgrade.

I plan on doing the disc conversion for the rear but i want some advice on aftermarket upgraded front rotors and pads.

I've seen the Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads that have been around a while and there's the EBC stuff. Any of you guys running slotted rotors (i don't know about drilled rotors cause it seems like it would weaken the rotor) and performance pads? Basically just the generic questions. How much of a difference? How long did the pads last? How was the fade? etc.

I seen a kit in one of the 4x4 mags that has larger rotors and two piston calipers. It looked simple to install, but it was kind of spendy. I think it may have been in an issue of JP Magazine.

Yeah, i think those kind of kits are probably out of my price range, but i bet they would screech the tires pretty good.

I ran the drilled and slotted rotors from Roto Tech rotors from Qudratech. They were amazing rotors and only $99.99 for both rotors. I broke them in with 5 pounds of mud and clay in them and they never complained, They stop much better then regular rotors and also clean better with water (Hence the drills and slots) I went with a set of semi-metalic brake pads from autozone but I reccomend EBC Green stuff. Never used them but havent her a single bad thing about them at all.

I've heard good things as well about EBC. How long did you have the rotors?

I had the rotors for around 3 thousand miles before I sold the jeep. They looked like they hadnt worn almost at all in those miles that I had them. (1/2 in town 1/2 on the highway). I did notice after I put them on I had a slight brake bias to the left side of the jeep but I believe that was due to another problem and not the rotors themselves.

I just installed Powerslot Rotors with Hawks Ceramic Pads hoping to get better braking power on my stock Jeep......disappointment!

If i will to do it again, i'll stick with Napa's and save a few $.

Thanks man, that's one of the ones i was thinking about. Just wondering, what was the problem with them?

I think I've decided to go with EBC, i looked around a while the past few days and the EBC stuff has great reviews.

Not much of a difference between my stock and powerslot/hawk ($220 shipped) system.
Could have save alot of $ going with local part store brakes.

Before anyone start bashing me, i break in the pads as recommended by manufacturer and system was bled.

OVERRATED, if you ask me.

Oh, here is another one you might like to research on.

Im running some no name slotted/drilled rotors (made in Canada) from JC Whitney $50ish, with ceramic pads from AutoZone $30ish. My breaking distance shortened a good distance and they work great when wet.

I run the cheapest drilled and slotted rotors I can find on ebay for all my vehicles... Then get the better set of pads from autozone cause there life time warrantied... When ive owned so many cherokees that run so many of the same parts it comes in handy! I notice a huge difference on every vehicle...

I had the EBC rotors and green stuff pads on my 2005 1/2 ton Sierra and they were great. Stopped alot better and they were still in good shape when I sold it. Couldn't complain about them at all. I got a kit off ebay for $150 shipped for the pads and rotors.
