Budget every day 98XJ
I just bought a 1998 XJ with 92k on it, it looks and drives perfect. I would like to hear some suggestions as to what the possibilities are with it. It's only 2WD and its a stick. I plan to use it as a daily driver so i don't really want to lift it... well maybe and an inch or two. running boards / rock sliders are going to have to be put on by request of my girl. i also want to get an intake system to boost gas millage and performance. I'm also looking for some bull bars or a brush guard for the front mainly because i want to put some driving/fog lights on it. if any one as ideas or recommendations for parts or kits i'd like to hear them.

I found this Airaid design.... Seems to make good sense. Seals the filter compartment to the hood. I should think the incoming air would remain cooler. Cooler air means more power. Must protect the filter from water also if you blast through fast. Looks like they just modify the stock air box!
I wonder why the guy with the blue engine compartment doesn't have a second cable coming to his throttle armature? That's how you adjust the shifting and kickdown... Hmmm, maybe he has a 5 speed??? Maybe that year doesn't have one?

Looks like Ford Tractor Blue! I would have never thought of spraying it over the dirt... Maybe I'll do that to mine rather than washing it! Well... On second thought I kind of like a nice clean stock look myself... Even painted both sides of every part!

Inquiring minds want to know... Is it Ford tractor blue?
Also, I see the blue beast does have a 5 speed, so no cable needed...

I would go with a 2" lift, spacers/shackles (if rear leafs still good), and the front bull bar. Plenty of after market air intakes out there. Have fun with it.
