1st welcome to the land of the free home of the brave or florida

2nd i'd offer him $2600 and not a penny more of it's stock. and even thats a lil pricey as craigslist is overflowing with used XJ's so long as you don't mind a bit of a gamble.

I'm going on 296,000 miles in my '01. If it was taken care of it will last. I picked mine up stock for $1,000 but its 2wd. I've put another grand into it on lift, tires, wheels, roof rack, front d30 axle & a transfer case. I'll probably drop another 600 into it by the time I get the transmission, drive shafts, linkages and other parts for my 4x4 conversion. 2600 would be at the high side for me too on a complete stock jeep. The 00-01 models have the notorious cracking 0331 casting # head on them so make sure it's good or has already been replaced. Good luck, welcome to the site. Plenty of knowledge here.

so i spoke to the dealer today and he said he will take 2700 bucks with 500 down payment. hes letting me take it to my machanic so he can see if he can find any problems with it so im happy with that. im trying to research as much as i can on here until i get the jeep on thursday to take to my guy to look at it. my wife thinks im crazy and wasting money on a jeep that has done 223000 miles on it and she cant wait to say i told you so!!! its had one owner and i did a car fax and it all came back fine so fingers crossed this car will last me a year or 2!!! if anyone has any more advice or if anyone thinks im making a mastake let me know! im near to the jeep world but really want one and respect your input as you guys on here know your jeeps inside out!

thanks!
ryan

Pick that thing up and prove her wrong. After your mech looks and gives a green light. The cherokee made the top 10 list of vehicles that refuse to die in number 4 slot I believe.
