Dunajones how many miles do you have on your jeep?I have heard mixed reviews on the head cracking,Some its around 100k some around 150k and some like you never had it happen to them.

My 2001 has 175k. No head issues. My 2000 XJ has 130k. No head issues. I think a lot of people are paranoid about the head issue.

Here is a survey on how often they crack..Out of 246 votes a majority of the 0331s do fine. its really just a gamble if the 0331 cracks or not.

With the age and miles on the 00-01s most that would crack probably have by now.

I love the speculation people use to defend a casting known to be flawed

I had a 01 I got from a previous owner. The head was replaced three times before I got it. I had to replace it with a Tupy 0331 when I got it.

The owner gave it up because he was frustrated with the heads cracking. The repair shop who installed three new heads didn't know about the issues with the 0331 heads and kept buying them to put on the jeep.

The first time the head cracked was at 105k miles, then the second head cracked at 118k miles. The third time it happened, it was at 154k miles. When I got it, I put a tupy head, drove it until I sold it to the next owner at 170k miles and he took it to 250k miles from that point.

I also helped friends swap the 0331 heads on their 00-01 jeeps.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO KEEP RUNNING A 0331 HEAD. Anyone who does is just stupid. Sorry to say that, though.
