A cowl snorkel will do the same job with out the hood being changed.

Lets design a way to have hood scoops direct air into a CAI without directing water with it as well.

Remember must be hood mounted, not a snorkel.
Cowl intake. That'd do exactly what you want. No use re-inventing the wheel. Ram air, or a forward facing scoop doesn't do a whole lot when you're moving slow on a trail.

Cowl is a backwards scoop right? As in facing the windshield?

Show some pics

Cowl intake. It brings in cold air from the cowl area (same place your HVAC gets it) cold air from outside the engine bay, and it doesn't get wet.

WHY? You're not the first person to try to think this thru. It's a simply concept. You're over complicating it...

Take the POS CAI intake back off, put a cowl intake on it and be done.

If you really wanted some kind of ram air you could plug up the stock air box, run tube from the back of the stock box up thru the cowl, make a hole in the cowl and run the tube up to a ram like on the top of snorkel intakes. It catch air while moving, cold air. It would have protection against water because the stock box would catch it before it gets sucked in.

Those drawings look really complicated. I also don't know how you would have enough room for all that.

I understand wanting to build something brand new that unique to your jeep.

What about some tubing coming from underneath the CAI. Does it have to be a scoop/cowl?

By looking at your drawings, it looks to me like you're trying to make something overly complicated, that will take up an excessive amount of space, have no real benefits, and not work near as well as things that already exist.
The reason everyone does the cowl intake is because its simple, cheap, and most importantly, it works. There's no need to reinvent the wheel here. But if you do go through with making something different, simple is better, and make something that actually functions.

Yeah to the underneath idea, considering options therer too. The fans can push air thru a tube system, fans will also chop water into a fine mist that the filter will catch

When you're done with R&D will you please post a few pictures and specifics of performance gains of the final product to this thread?

I'd love to see it.
